The problem is primarily in the rhetoric used..while there are some disagreements, Ron Paul's speech is much more academic and ideological, whereas Trump speaks in more pragmatic terms that resonate with people. Instead of free trade, Trump talks about "bad trade deals." Where Ron Paul talks bringing the troops home, Trump talks about defeating ISIS…when in reality he has the same objective. This is the big deal, to me, because opposing the Fed and a neocon foreign policy are the two biggest things which will get you dropped from the MSM. Ron Paul suffered because he stated his opposition too directly.
