Anons, let's talk about love for our enemies. The easy kind of love is love for people who treat everyone kindly. Those people are wonderful, but we also can love our enemies. It is simple, but not easy. The key is to understand that people are not equal to the things that they do. Your enemies commit sins. You should hate their sins. You should hate all sin. But you can distinguish between the sin and the sinner. You can love the sinner while hating the sin. It may also be necessary for society as a whole to punish some people with death. That does not mean that we should hate people who get executed for crimes. If anything, you should pray for the people who get executed.

I can preach this, but I can't necessarily live up to my ideals all the time. I can love many people who commit petty sins that cause me personal inconvenience. Currently I find that I can't love everyone equally. Currently some very organized criminals are doing very evil things with human trafficking. I don't try to forgive these people; I don't speculate about how they will be punished in the afterlife. I try to distinguish between the sin and the sinner. Right now I am satisfied with hating all the sins, both inside and outside. Maybe someday I will be able to love all the sinners.
