From a link via Neon Revolt, apparently the Washington Post is making the URL for page visits include a random character string.

This could be intended a way to circumvent Dissenter (new third-party comments system hosted by a third party, integrated into the browser for Dissenter users, that lets a viewer post a comment about a website, and have it viewable by other Dissenter users when they visit that website.)
