When I read a sci-fi novel i suspend my disbelief for the sake of entertainment. Same as when reading fantasy fiction.
It doesn't mean i believe what was written actually happened.
In the same way when reading the Bible. I suspend my disbelief to understand and appreciate what the writers were trying to say.
But it doesn't mean that I have to believe in it.
