When organizations become a 401 c3 tax entity it behooves that entity to not make waves, wouldn’t want to lose that tax shelter.

Which is unfortunate, I attend a small church regularly and even tithe, but not because the church teaches it but because the Bible regards giving from the heart the real gift. Churches use their tax exempt status to keep the governments paws out of the offering but it doesn’t stop greed from entering the body of the church.
Texan here too, it seems the attitudes towards its illegal status is changing in favor. I’m not personally a user but I support it being legalized.
