Blue/green: under the rainbow, normal people (Blue Fairy, Emerald Castle)
Yellow: on the road to illumination (Yellow Brick Road, Yellow Submarine)
Orange: (Partially illuminated, A Clockwork Orange)
Red/White: Over the rainbow (Ruby Slippers, etc.)
Watch any Hollywood movie, Close Encounters for instance, and the character will wear blue/green/neutral clothing at the beginning, yellow in the middle, and red/white at the end.
