When multiple authors need to share the royalties on a book, they use a distributor to publish it. That person (Im assuming this Monica) has a business and will take the income and distribute it to the various authors using a 1099 at the end of the year in exchange for a small percent. This keeps one person from having to take the full tax hit on their income.
