HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - About 120 members of the Connecticut Army National Guard deploying to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to serve for a year at the U.S. military detention center.

A send-off ceremony took place on Tuesday in Hartford for the 643rd Military Police Company, which is embarking on its first mission to Cuba.

The unit's last overseas mission came in 2006 when it spent more than a year in Germany. It is expected to leave in mid-March for training at a U.S. Army post in Texas before deploying to Guantanamo.

Another Connecticut unit, the 192nd Military Police Battalion, deployed on a similar mission to Guantanamo in 2015.
