You can trademark anything you want as long as it hasn't already been trademarked. The problem is in defending it. Every single infraction you become aware of you have to vigorously defend or you lose your trademark. So the problem will quickly solve itself because anyone who has trademarked stupid shit won't possibly be able to defend it.
