More than 140 people have come forward to speak to police after journalist Lyra McKee died following a night of unrest in Londonderry.

The senior detective leading the investigation into the murder of Miss McKee has revealed that since her death dozens have contacted the force with information.

Miss McKee, 29, died as a result of injuries sustained when she was shot on Derry’s Creggan estate on Thursday night.

A 26-year-old man arrested in connection with an attack on a Catholic church in Ballyclare has been released on bail pending further enquiries.A number of paint bombs were thrown at Sacred Heart Church on the Doagh Road on Sunday.

Friends of murdered journalist Lyra McKee have defaced an office belonging to a dissident republican group by putting red handprints on the walls of its headquarters in Londonderry.

The group held the protest over the murder of the talented journalist and published author.

A number of Miss McKee’s friends walked to Junior McDaid House in Derry, where they used a pot of red paint to place handprints on the side of office walls.

A group of some six men, understood to be members of republican group Saoradh, who are associated with the New IRA, stood outside the building during the intense protest.

PSNI officers were also present and later asked for the names of those involved in the incident.

Police alert for Northern Ireland boy (12) missing for three days

Police have issued a missing persons alert for a child who has not been seen in three days.

Patrick Connors from Warrenpoint was last seen in Newry on May 7.

On Friday evening police said they were concerned for his wellbeing.

"We believe he is with extended family but need to confirm this. We are appealing for anyone who knows of his whereabouts to call us on 101," said a police sergeant on Twitter.

‘Provocative’ Saoradh leaflets distributed in north Belfast

political party linked to the New IRA has distributed leaflets around north Belfast, calling on people to “agitate”.

Saoradh has been in the headlines recently, following the murder of Lyra McKee.

The group denies being the political wing of the New IRA, which has already admitted carrying out the murder of the 29-year-old journalist.

She was shot during disorder in the Creggan area of Londonderry three weeks ago.
