I Am The Speaker Who Was Disrupted and Abused At Portland State University – Here Is My Story

I showed up on March 5th, 2019, with the hopes that there would be no disruptions. I made it a few minutes into my presentation when the now-infamous bell ringer decided to throw his tantrum.

US General: Current conditions ‘don’t merit’ troop withdrawal from Afghanistan

U.S. Army General Joseph Votel, head of the U.S. Central Command, has said that the current political situation in Afghanistan and the status of negotiations with the Taliban currently under way “don’t merit” a troop withdrawal, despite President Donald Trump’s goal of a drawdown.

“These decisions have to be based more on conditions than specific times” and must “pivot off political progress,” Votel said during a House Armed Services Committee hearing in Washington on March 7.

His remarks come as U.S. and Taliban negotiators are holding peace talks in Qatar aimed at ending the nearly 18-year war in Afghanistan, America’s longest.

The government in Kabul has been absent from the talks, with the Taliban insisting it will not engage with a Western “puppet.”

Why The U.S. Is Terrified That Huawei Controls The World’s 5G Network

With 29 billion connected devices by 2022, one security expert claims, “Whoever gets to dominate 5G infrastructure will become the owner of the next generation of the world’s telecoms infrastructure.” That company is Huawei. ⁃ TN Editor

US lobbying against Chinese firm Huawei, one of the biggest phone makers and telecommunications kit providers in the world, hit a new level this week during the phone industry’s big annual conference.

Around 100,000 technology vendors, carriers, and device makers head to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona every year both to strike deals and to showcase emerging technologies. This year, the conversation was dominated almost exclusively by 5G, as carriers look to introduce next-generation, superfast mobile networks.

The conference was heavily sponsored by Huawei, as the firm made its big pitch about its 5G capabilities.

But looming in the background were the months of negative press about whether Huawei’s equipment might provide a backdoor that would allow the Chinese government to spy on people.

The firm’s chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou, is awaiting Canada’s decision on whether to extradite her to the US, afteralleged sanctions violations. And the company was also indicted by the US for alleged theft of trade secrets.

Anybody remember when just about everybody in the MSM said Trump would crash the economy

US housing starts climbed 18.6 percent in January

U.S. housing starts jumped 18.6 percent in January, as builders ramped up construction of single-family houses to the fastest pace in eight months.

The Commerce Department says January ground breakings occurred at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.23 million. Home construction rebounded sharply from December, when the annual rate was just 1.04 million.

Most of the new construction came from single-family houses, which were being built at the strongest rate since May 2018. Still, overall housing starts in January were slightly below the 2018 average as the pace of apartment construction slowed.

India rape victim kills attacker despite being set on fire

The woman dragged him into the flames

An Indian woman who was raped and set on fire killed her attacker by dragging him into the flames, police said Wednesday.

The woman survived with burns to her face and hands while the man died in hospital from his injuries.

The widow, 35, told police that the man, 42, attacked and raped her in her home north of Kolkata in eastern India on Monday, when her daughters were out.

"Then he poured kerosene on her body and set her on fire," police officer Sajal Kanti Biswas told AFP, quoting the woman's statement.

India has a grim record of sexual violence, as highlighted by the gang rape and murder of a woman on a Delhi bus in 2012.

On average, more than 100 rapes were reported each day in 2016, according to the most recent official figures.

Victims are often threatened by the perpetrators against reporting the incidents to the authorities.

A slow judiciary and lax policing system also fail the victims, experts say.

Closer everyday

Blockchain defies critics, enters mainstream

Despite recent slump, digital asset market can look to growth as tech, regulation and security issues solved

What a difference two years makes. In 2017 US banking giant JP Morgan dismissed the sector as nothing more than a fraud. Last month, it announced it is launching its own “digital token.”

The news sent more than a tremor of anticipation across the fintech sector and after the announcement – aptly or not, made on Valentine’s Day – the prices of the core cryptocurrencies rose. Bitcoin, the original and the biggest crypto, and still very much the market bellwether, climbed by more than 10% in less than a week.

Bitcoin has, of course, slumped again. And, while it is clear that this Wall Street titan is not about to launch its “own cryptocurrency”– it’s actually a blockchain-based payment network that is private, controlled and very much owned, so everything that a “true” cryptocurrency is not – JP Morgan’s entry, in whatever guise, into this ever-developing yet still doggedly enigmatic sector cannot be ignored.

Trump Climate Panel Could Expose Huge Fraud, Hence the Hysteria

The collective freak out over President Donald Trump's proposed Presidential Committee on Climate Science (PCCS) highlights the fact that the hysteria surrounding the man-made global-warming hypothesis is unscientific — and that it must be re-examined by competent, credible experts. According to scientists and experts, if the science on “climate change” were truly settled, Democrats, tax-funded climate alarmists, and the establishment media would all be celebrating another committee to confirm that “conclusion.” Instead, the unhinged shrieking over Trump's plan to investigate the matter strongly suggests something very fishy is going on, critics argued. Indeed, there is a good chance that even more fraud could be revealed.
