Thanks for confirming, anon. That's about how I remembered it, a lot of people were hoping that Hussein would pardon Manning before he left office, but he didn't, he just commuted the sentence down to end much sooner than it was supposed to. Wikileaks was still a heavy topic in the news due to the Podesta email release those few months prior during the lead-up to the election, so the media and public had previous high-profile leakers on the brain.

Appreciate the acknowledgement anon, it's good that people can still recognize when they accidentally mix up info. You're right though, the actual pardons are the more important than the fuss over Manning. The commutation was probably just to give the media a smoke-screen story to bite off on rather than talk about the actual pardons, in my opinion.
