Special Prosecutor John Huber Has a Message For Americans: Bill Barr and I Will Hold Offenders Accountable and Advance the Rule of Law

Americans will soon find out if Attorney General Bill Barr has the mettle to pursue Obama’s corrupt FBI and DOJ officials who weaponized the intel agencies to target Donald Trump.

John Huber, the special prosecutor tapped by former AG Jeff Sessions to investigate FISA abuses by Obama’s DOJ/FBI, met with newly-confirmed Attorney General Bill Barr this week.

On Friday, Mr. Huber, a US Attorney from Utah, sent a message to Americans — he is committed to holding offenders accountable.

“US Attorneys thoroughly enjoyed our time with AG Barr this week. He is a solid, proven leader with a clear vision for the @DOJ. We will move forward with his priorities, hold offenders accountable, and advance the rule of law,” Huber said on Friday in a tweet.

Venezuela sanctions intended ‘to motivate people to change’ & Guaido ‘not a puppet’ – Abrams

US special envoy for Venezuela Elliott Abrams maintained that the regime change project in Caracas was still on track, with even more sanctions sure to persuade Venezuelans into backing the US-chosen opposition leader any day now.

Speaking to reporters at the State Department on Friday, Abrams tried to put the best face on the ongoing failure of Washington to replace the “regime” of President Nicolas Maduro with the “democracy” of self-proclaimed opposition leader Juan Guaido. Abrams went so far as to blame Maduro for Thursday’s power blackouts, which the Venezuelan government said were a result of US sabotage.

He maintained that most Venezuelans, as well as the majority of the country’s military, were unhappy with Maduro, but could not answer why only a handful of soldiers have switched sides to back Guaido.

It doesn’t look like it’s happening until the day it begins to happen.

Instead, Abrams offered wishful thinking, hoping the soldiers “follow their own constitution” that Maduro was supposedly violating.

Asked about a letter sent by 16 House Democrats – including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ro Khanna and Tulsi Gabbard – expressing concern about US sanctions and violent threats, Abrams said the sanctions were meant to be temporary.

“The purpose is to motivate people to change their behavior,” he said. “It’s not just a punishment, we hope it’s also an inducement to change pattern of behavior.”

From Jail, Chelsea Manning Blasts Grand Jury's ‘Secret Process'

US whistleblower Chelsea Manning issued a statement shortly after her arrest Friday, confirming that she has no intention of complying with the grand jury she's been summoned before. The grand jury wants to question her with regard to her 2010 public disclosures of military and diplomatic secrets.

"I will not comply with this, or any other grand jury. Imprisoning me for my refusal to answer questions only subjects me to additional punishment for my repeatedly-stated ethical objections to the grand jury system," the statement reads.

"The grand jury's questions pertained to disclosures from nine years ago, and took place six years after an in-depth computer forensics case, in which I testified for almost a full day about these events. I stand by my previous public testimony."

Manning went on to note that she "will not participate in a secret process that I morally object to, particularly one that has been historically used to entrap and persecute activists for protected political speech."

The whistleblower's statement came after she was arrested Friday when a federal judge found her in contempt of court for refusing to respond to any and all questions before a grand jury.

Moira Meltzer-Cohen, Manning's attorney, told reporters outside a federal courthouse in Virginia that her client can be held for the term of the grand jury, noting that Manning's detainment can't last more than 18 months.

However, when asked whether Manning would be held for the full 18-month period, Meltzer-Cohen said that "we are not there yet."

"As everybody knows, Chelsea has tremendous courage," the attorney said. "Our primary concern at this point is her health while she is confined, and we will be paying close attention."

Manning appeared Wednesday before a grand jury at the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, but refused to answer questions, citing the First, Fourth and Sixth Amendments of the US Constitution, Sputnik previously reported.
