Dr. Priscilla Chan met Meredith Liu while visiting the small high school where she worked in Boston. The two clicked and shared a passion for an integrated approach to childhood development.

Liu moved to California and two years after meeting with Dr. Chan and opened The Primary School in East Palo Alto (where the Zuckerbergs now live). The holistic model for the school integrates education, health care, and family support services to dramatically improve outcomes for underserved children. [possible indoctrination/programming?]

My guess is these two have a longer history than mentioned in the article.

One feature of the Primary School program is its approach to social-emotional learning. They use Conscious Discipline, a trauma-informed program designed by Dr. Becky Bailey that focuses on safety, connection and problem-solving.

The private school is available to families tuition-free and is funded by Chan’s philanthropy, The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Future locations will also serve low-income communities but will be publicly funded with philanthropic gap filling.

As far as the Conscious Discipline “program”, it seems to be an educational system developed with a central planning ideas aimed at molding what a society should look like, more so than individuals. The program doesn’t really mention much about academics, but rather feelings, social roles, identity, etc. Is this a school that values academic subjects or a workshop designed to build good citizens for the Communist Party? Anons probably know which one it is.

At least one teacher who was a practitioner of Conscious Discipline had some issues implementing the finer aspects of the “trauma-informed program” in his classroom because he was arrested in 2014.

A kindergarten teacher, Thomas Washburn, 54, was jailed on 25 counts of indecent exposure and one count of child abuse after allegedly disciplining a 6-year-old girl by removing her shirt during class, leaving her naked from the waist up in front of other students.
