Why do people think gold is worth something? The only thing it's good for is electronics because it is a very good conductor of electricity. Things should be valued in terms of "How useful is this during a zombie apocalypse?" For instance, food, guns and ammo are worth something. Gold is not unless you need to manufacture electronics, but then copper would be just as valuable since they do the same thing.

The only thing that gives gold value is people think it's worth money. It's just the same as fiat.

You're the idiot. What would you do with a ton of gold if the world went to shit and zombies were eating people and their brains? Obviously zombies aren't real by what about a nuclear winter after WWIII, same difference. People are looking for food, weapons and shelter, not caring about money, gold or any other worthless store of value at that point. The only things that have value are things that help you survive.

It would be just at worthless as fiat. The only currency at that point would be food, weapons, ammo and other supplies to help you survive.

Again, it's only valuable because people THINK it's valuable. Silver on the other hand has anti-microbial properties and can kill germs, so there is some value in that.
