Many of us were excitedly thinking the enemy would be killing themselves after considering alternate fates. We should have seen this coming.
Also a very good lesson here about controlling your emotions and delaying decisions til emo not a factor. I believe that is the primary form of control, stimulating specific emotions. Probably a widely used tech with many applications.
