Authorities have identified the man who shot himself to death in front of the White House as a 26-year-old Alabama man.
Cameron Ross Burgess, of Maylene, Ala., approached the White House shortly before noon Saturday and fired several rounds from a handgun, the DC Police Department said on Sunday.
None of the shots appeared to be aimed at the White House

The remains of Mr. Burgess have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
AL.com reported that Burgess was standing among a crowd of people when he pulled out the gun and shot himself. As he fell to the ground, the crowd of over 100 people fled.
Police found and searched his Honda Accord with Alabama license plates for about four hours, which was parked near the Capital Hilton Hotel, only a few blocks from the White House.
Burgess graduated at Auburn University in Spring 2013, a school spokesman confirmed to AL.com. He lived near campus in student housing and previously was registered to vote in Lee County, public records show.
He was a member of the Thompson High School Class of 2009.
