This may very well be true. Peter Thiel was among the first high profile Valley mogul to cut and run. Silicon Valley is imploding. It is so expensive to live there now that people who work for these big tech companies cannot afford to live there and are having to commute from towns well over an hour away and get stuck in nightmarish traffic both ways.
I lived in that part of California years ago before it declined into the cesspool that it is now. It was bad then, and I can very much imagine how much worse it is now. All the smart people are leaving that state. It has been overrun by illegal aliens and has been completely destroyed by the socialists who the liberals keep voting into office there.
Moving to New York isn't going to help them much because New York is only marginally different from California. It too is full of insane liberals, illegal aliens, outrageous cost of everything, and ridiculous taxes.
You are correct. It was reactionary, and is a sign that they are getting very nervous. The Clown operations are being busted up.
