A crash involving a semi-truck carrying more than a dozen missiles shut down several miles of Interstate 90 in north Idaho last night, according to the Idaho State Police.

Previously, ISP had only confirmed that a semi-truck had crashed and that the Department of Defense would be involved in the process of releasing information about the incident.

Shortly after 7:00pm on Friday, ISP says Leiloni Dearinger of Chickasha, Oklahoma, was driving through the Huetter rest stop at milepost 8. The semi-truck Dearinger was driving was loaded with 16 missiles, each weighing 2,000 pounds.

ISP says Dearinger accidentally drove into the hazmat containment area instead of using the interstate on ramp, and drove over a snow bank at the and of that area, which disabled thew vehicle.

The interstate was fully shut down between mileposts 7 through 11 as a precaution until the situation was deemed to not be a hazard. Dearinger, 56, was uninjured and was cited for inattentive driving.
