Q, this may be semantics, but I don't think so.

Patriots do come in all skin colors. There are Chinese patriots, loyally advancing the interests of the Chinese against us. There are loyal Russian patriots who advance the interests of Russia, which sometimes align with American interests, and sometimes do not. There are loyal Mexican patriots, working for Mexico. There are a great many Jewish patriots serving in Unit 8200.

American posterity is not Multicultural. It is not one skin color, but it is only two. It is not many, unless you want to count the many shades of mulatto blending those founding two.

It is not a mere cohencidience the when you look at the forces you're working against….it is full of Ohr's and Moyers and Mc-'s and -steins and people who have a hyphen in their American.

And I am sure that when you assess the forces on your side, most don't have a hyphen, and those that kind-of sort-of do, yourself included are the rare exception that have overcome that hyphen.

I say this as one who has. Many could assess me as a hyphenated American, but I, among the very rare exceptions, completely and utterly reject any prior hyphenation. If you forced me to fill in the blank, I would fill it American-American. But those who can reject their own heritage for a better one are rare indeed.

But a Hindu from the subcontinent is not an American regardless of paperwork. A Russian-Jewish exile sojourning in our lands is not. A Chinese confucian is not either. There are Americans. And the only legitimate hyphen is African-Americans. Beyond that, our guests, a touch of spice in the stew, but not us. At least us, if you'll have me, if not, you. Reality is what it is, regardless of what we wish it to be.
