to pick up from PB:
https://thehackernews.com/2016/05/android-kernal-exploit.html
This is the kind of shit I am taking about. The Kernel is the key to stopping this shit.
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/bionic/man8/route.8.html
This is the place to start looking into this.
I need to dig in on some of the workings of these app's and see what they are using. You may not be able to stop them, but you might be able to spoof the spoof's and provide it incorrect data so it fails.
Android was anal rape of linux, in broad daylight and in front of a crowd.( and the crowd cheered).
Black eye( I have not dug deep) but I think it has to do with the DNS.
DNS has some root servers, it's the yellow pages of the internet, you can find this place because root servers know where it is what the IP is.
Those who control the root servers of DNS control the internet. These are copies of a list of address's like an old phone book. If you don't have the number you cannot call ( open a web page).
We should should have a DNS root server off line. Back when this stuff started all of these were at colleges and shared among them.
char root the bitch.
Oh by the way, fixing it at kernel would fuck Android as well.
One of the nice things about everyone now using linux, Apple ( we see you bitches), even windows is using some of the code.
droids took it from the ground up, fix the linux kernel ( which we can, no gov involved). Those not running it would flock to an OS you could load that blocked that shit.

All internet root DNS servers are running the linux kernel.
I keep telling you guys, go to the bottom of the stack, solve it and it goes away.
I will do some digging on the vault stuff. I am sure there are some clues on that shit. If I can find some guys that are looking at this, and know what they are doing ( a lot of them out there), you might be able to get a patch going. I would think you could get this done. I find it strange the lack of info out there on some of this stuff.
