Julián Castro Potentially Supportive Of Reparations For Slave Descendants

Julián Castro says if elected President in 2020, he will appoint a task force to look into the issue of reparations for slave descendants. Yesterday, on CNN's State of the Union, the former mayor of San Antonio said he believes that in order for the U.S. to appropriately address its past history of slavery, compensation for the descendants of slaves should be an option for consideration. Castro went on to suggest, quote "if, under the Constitution, we compensate people because we take their property, why wouldn't you compensate people who actually WERE property?" Two other Democrat Party 2020 Presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren have both recently stated they would support some sort of systemic adjustment in favor of the descendants of former slaves.
