Did you see that through the EFF he fought for Steve Jackson Games which was raided by the Secret Service for hacking allegations.
SJGames makes various games including some that are Illuminati themed. They also reprinted a book called the "Principia Discordia or How The West Was Lost" which is a weird religious-like book. Very much along the lines of Bohemian Grove.
It seems the benefits of all the fighting for Internet rights accrued to shady, C_A backed ventures.
