We have numerous plants that have been sitting abandoned for years (some decades). They weren't dismantled or demolished. We wouldn't need to build new. Retro-fit and kick it into gear.
The steel we are importing from Canada comes from China. It is the dirty little NAFTA secret loop hole. Canada and Mexico act as brokers for countries that do not have access (denied access) to US market. Canada and Mexico make nothing. They are assembly plants.
