He told Isaac "God will provide himself a lamb for the offering" The prophecy is that Christ was the Lamb of God provided for the sacrifice.

In the prophetic drama, both Isaac and the ram play the part of Christ.

Isaac plays the part of the Son of God. But in order to not actually kill him in the play… intermission… actor change.. the ram is substituted.
