Briefing on Drug & Human trafficking at Southern Border

3-13-18, ~2:30 pm ET, https://youtu.be/laiGxwiB0GI

Notes from the speech/press conference:

[Golden State had some problems with the feed; may have missed something at the very beginning on emergency order re Boeing planes.]

Emergency order of prohibition has been issued to ground all 737 Max 8 and 9 planes. Boeing is work hard to come up with an answer.

On the border crisis:

"This is a briefing that we've had planned for quite some time"…on drug trafficking on the Southern border. We have a lot of great things happening there."

We're building a lot of Wall…a lot more than they understand. They don't understand how much we're building. But that's ok, they never did."

Tens of thousands of Americans are killed [because of drugs coming across the border.] We have very porous borders, in part because our country is doing well economically; attracts people. But meth, cocaine, heroin and "ultra-lethal" fentanyl ("it gets stronger") is also coming in. $700billion annually plus is spent. Opoid crisis: national health emergency. Provides a large cash flow to criminal organizations.

"We're going a lot at the border."…A lot of equipment is being purchased, a lot of tech. But I think it's overrated. Human traffickers: go thru open areas, where there is no wall. Ports of Entry: the equipment will seal that up.

"But we've got to get the Wall up, otherwise, it all doesn't work."

Surging flow of drugs–dangerous. We're doing many, many things. "It's going to be very successful, a lot of money is being spent right now….and more money is coming in. Certain of the other side are starting to see the level of importance, and the importance of this wall.[or]…barrier…some people are calling it slats.

[Ends with a report by Mike McDaniel, "Director of [the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program] of Houston, TX."]

Some notable bits from the press conference

"I think anybody going against border security, drug trafficking, human trafficking….the Dems are for open borders…frankly, they're for crime…I think it's an 80% issue, maybe even more than that.

__On China and trade in general: "We are collecting billions and billions of dollars." optimistic about deal being made…"It's an exciting time in terms of trade."

On North Korea: "No update on N. Korea." [But affirms "good friendship"]

On Mueller: "I can only tell you one thing: No collusion"…"it was all a big hoax"…[all because of the 2016 election]…[says that the Electoral College is a big advantage for Dems not Repubs]…."Some people thought they were gonna win."….[thus, they decided to blame Russia.]
