Answer = they are NOT opposing counting them - they WANT and NEED them counted AS PART OF THE POPULATION

they oppose identifying them as non citizens

the issue at hand is whether or not to INCLUDE A CITIZENSHIP QUESTION on the census

D say no

POTUS says yes

either way the people are counted

further there will be litigation even IF counted cuz the constitutions does NOT require the count exclude non citizens

the REASON it does not is cuz slaves (non citizens) were to be included in the census
