Blue collar guys
Blue collar gals
BUILT AMERICA
Late uncle was as regular Joe (his real name) as they come
Worked at the Ford factory in Hapeville GA
Liked to fish, bowl, and deliver Meals on Wheels
Quiet, laid back man
You'd never know he spent WWII as one of Merrill's Marauders
Months trudging through India and Burma, starving
Those guys were eating the pack mules by the end
When he came back from the war he worked at a meatpacking plant for a while
He had a great life and good friends, loved by family
I have his military discharge docs and his Pacific Theatre insignia
This whole College Admissions scandal is making me realize something
When did it become something bad to be AVERAGE in America?
Not everybody has to be Honors/AP class material
Not to bash super-smart types, that's fine
There's nothing wrong with being the B/C student, nothing at all
We are the meat and potatoes of America
People are different, that's all
Hating "average" people is the last acceptable bias
That's what's screwed up about those crooked college bribing people
They just couldn't accept that their kids were average
How about worrying about whether your kids are happy and well-adjusted
Average is okay
We gotta change that
