Snow White symbolism: how hatred & envy lead to the corruption of innocence
Snow White is the story of a young girl whose step-mother the Queen so envies her innocent beauty that she cannot allow her to live. The passages below are from a writer who did a pretty fair job explaining the symbolism. My comments are in italics.
"Snow White, like Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, and The Juniper Tree, is a story in which a child is victimized by an adult."

During [Snow White's] wedding [to the Prince], her stepmother is punished by being forced to wear red hot shoes and dance in them until she falls and dies (Grimm).

Snow White can be viewed as the story of a wicked adult (the Queen) trying to destroy the innocence of a child; the "temptations" can be seen as the conditioning to which that child is subjected in order to subjugate and pervert them. The story involves hatred, envy, cannibalism, and child victimization–the primal forces that drive evil people to corrupt and exploit not only children but to ruin/devour anything in life that is pure and unspoiled.
