We were pretty clean in the 50s & 60s, Anon.
Most of the listed illnesses were survivable (mumps, measles, whooping cough, chicken pox), some disfiguring, like polio. It is likely there is a lot of overkill- we spent a lot of money developing this, let's get it on the vaccine list- sort of action. Maybe focus vaccination on truly heinous diseases is the answer. Leave out the survivable stuff. Kids still get pneumonia and bounce back, your granny maybe doesn't.
