Bit of a simplified version, but essentially countries that operate under civil law lead to excessive legislation and legalism as well as the increasing necessity to have police, courts, expanded judiciary, etc to maintain. Basically, they become oppressive. This is the amazing difference we share with our American cousins, common law, freedoms we need to defend.
