Catholic Church in Poland admits more than 380 children have been sexually abused by members of its clergy since 1990

Poland's Catholic Church has admitted more than 380 children have been sexually abused by clergy members since 1990.

 

Church leaders revealed at a press conference in Warsaw that 382 clergy members had abused children, with cases starting in 1990 to halfway through 2018.

 

Archbishop Wojciech Polak, the primate of Poland, expressed 'pain, shame and the sense of guilt that such situations happened.'

 

The shocking figures include 198 priests who abused minors under 15 years old and 184 priests who abused those aged between 15 and 18, according to Wojciech Sadlon, the head of the church's Institute of Statistics.

Inside the Ring: Democrats Dominate Artificial Intelligence Commission

 

A new federal commission on artificial intelligence is being led by Democrats.

 

The National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (AI), a federally appointed commission, held its first meeting Monday chaired by former Google executive and billionaire Eric Schmidt, a major donor and informal adviser to former President Barack Obama.

 

The commission’s vice chairman is Robert Work, who was deputy defense secretary in the Obama administration.

 

Additionally, the AI commission has hired as a staff member Ylli Bajraktari, a former National Security Council staff member under Mr. Obama. Mr. Bajraktari also was a former aide to Obama Defense Secretary Ash Carter. He and his brother, Ylber Bajraktari, raised concerns about political reliability from some conservatives who questioned why they were kept on in senior positions at the NSC by President Trump’s second national security adviser, retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster.

 

A Pentagon spokeswoman had no immediate comment.

Watch US Delegation Storm Out Of UN Narcotics Meeting As Venezuela's FM Spoke

 

A large US delegation stormed out of a United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs meeting on Thursday in Vienna just as Venezuelan foreign minister Jorge Arreaza began an address to the chamber.

 

The US said its representatives walked out together in order to protest the legitimacy of officials representing the Maduro government. The official Twitter account of the the U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna announced the walk-out and posted a video of the protest which occurred during what it called "the world's most important drug control forum."
