I spoke up and argued with the principal at a faculty meeting about our entire student body being issued Chromebooks and the push for teachers to use Google Classroom. I asked where is the data to show that all this smart technology makes anyone any smarter? KIds are connected 24/7 and many do not even know how to concentrate or focus beyond two clicks .Sure I'm all for using computers in the classroom as one of many learning tools and experiences, but they are not the end-all be-all to learning. I got one colleague who backed me up, and about 10 who expressed agreement afterward, but for the most part crickets amid glares from the principal and the tech guy. Hello Brave New World.
