Turkish Media Hurries Up To Defend ‘Moderate Rebels’ After Russian Strikes On Terrorist Infrastructure In Idlib

The March 13 Russian strikes on weapons depots and some other facilities belonging to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in the city of Idlib caused fire and fury in Turkish media outlets, which run to defend ‘moderate rebels’ and accuse the Russians of ‘civilian casualties’.

The state-run news agency Anadolu claimed citing the White Helmets propaganda group that the strikes killed at least 2 civilians and injured 19 others, mostly children. Nationwide television news channel NTV citing own sources claimed that the airstrikes were not coordinated with Turkey. This version contradicts with a statement released by the Russian Defense Ministry. Pro-government newspaper Hurriyet came with a series of reports accusing the Damascus government of violating the ceasefire regime in the Idlib de-escalaiton zone and reporting at least 40 civilian casualties as a result of these violations and Russian strikes on Idlib city. ther Turkish media outlest are also reciting own best lines about the “bloody Assad regime” and the Russians that work against the ‘moderate opposition’ and threaten the de-escalation in northwestern Syria.

This attitude is another indication that Ankara is not very interested in the real defeat of terrorism in Idlib because these will mean the defeat of forces, which it employs as proxies against the Damascus government.

Is this why Israel and Turkey are not happy?

Not so much I think the Gov and Russia are supporting them to keep the turks out as they are supporting ISIS in Idleb, the kurds also have split loyalties so it's now a case of those who are good and those who are evil.

The bombing by Syria and Russia is causing panic and by delaying their attacks they have stopped to much outside intervention. This is why the IDF made that BS claim yesterday and Turkey is panicking.

Twitter is forcing users to delete links to videos of the horrific massacre at two New Zealand mosques, one of which was livestreamed on Facebook.

A shooter using the name ‘Brenton Tarrant’ had posted to 8Chan that he was going to commit an attack — along with a link to the Facebook livestream. New Zealand shooting: 3 men and 1 woman in custody, many dead in shootings at 2 mosques in Christchurch, police say

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand – Many people were killed in a mass shooting at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch on Friday, a witness said.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said following the fatal shootings it is "one of New Zealand's darkest days."

New Zealand police said three men and one woman have been taken into custody. There is a police presence at a number of scenes, they said.

And while police said the incident was "evolving" and "we are working to confirm the facts," they said they can confirm "there have been a number of fatalities."

Ardern said at a Friday afternoon news conference, "what has happened here is an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence."

She said while many people affected may be migrants or refugees "they have chosen to make New Zealand their home and it is their home. They are us. The person who has perpetuated this violence against us is not."

Police have not yet described the scale of the shooting but urged people in central Christchurch to stay indoors.

And New Zealand media reported a shooting at a second mosque in a Christchurch suburb.

Witness Len Peneha said he saw a man dressed in black enter the Masjid Al Noor mosque in central Christchurch at about 1:45 p.m. and then heard dozens of shots, followed by people running from the mosque in terror.

Peneha, who lives next door to the mosque, said the gunman ran out of the mosque, dropped what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon in Peneha's driveway, and fled.

Peneha said he then went into the mosque to try and help.

"I saw dead people everywhere. There were three in the hallway, at the door leading into the mosque, and people inside the mosque," he said. "It's unbelievable nutty. I don't understand how anyone could do this to these people, to anyone. It's ridiculous."

He said he helped about five people recover in his home. He said one was slightly injured.

"I've lived next door to this mosque for about five years and the people are great, they're very friendly," he said. "I just don't understand it."

He said the gunman was white and was wearing a helmet with some kind of device on top, giving him a military-type appearance.

The New Zealand Herald reported there was a second shooting at the Linwood Masjid Mosque.

Mark Nichols told the Herald he heard about five gunshots and that a Friday prayer goer returned fire with a rifle or shotgun. Nichols said he saw two injured people being carried out on stretchers past his automotive shop and that both people appeared to be alive.

New Zealand historically has had only a handful of mass shootings events.
