St John is one of our biggest ambulance outfits. It's a charity. I can't say it's unusual that they would show up quickly, there's plenty about. They also saved my spouseanon's life, so yeah, I'm not going to give them a hard time about anything. Kek.

Yep, you need a permit for a pistol or "military style" weapon (as opposed to just being a registered firearm owner). Most illegal firearms are sawn off shotguns, and .22 I believe.

You definitely can't carry, no. So I did find it odd that they had a firearm at the other mosque, but they also probably heard about the first incident. So… Yeah, nah, still weird.

Actually the message from the Muslim community has been pretty calm and conciliatory. In fact I got the impression the spokesman on the news was kind of hinting he knew this was a FF. "they were not from this land" sort of thing (I'll have to see if they play that again).

Any kiwi would know this is not the work of a real kiwi, we just don't roll like that.

Hmm, I've just had a thought. I think there are multiple levels to this attack. FF or not.

  • polarise opinion about the 'far right' and 8ch

  • set Muslims against NZ public

  • frame Q

The second point is important as all cultures exist harmoniously in NZ for the most part (even protestant and catholic kek). Division had been tried in the past and it hasn't worked. The worst division I can remember is actually Samoans vs. Tongans and that got sorted out with dialogue (pacific community media).
