TLDR; Grassroots pressure can win elections and change the course of our country but couch potatoes have very little influence in the course of even their own lives.
I want to thank all my fellow North Carolinians (it's better on top!) who took time out of their day and let Sen Tillis know that we opposed the Castro Resolution AND that we expect him to work with President Trump if he wants our future votes.
Don't forget folks – we don't need them (they are interchangeable!) – they need us.
Now, if you will, please take another moment to THANK HIM for changing his position. Don't offer to change your future vote just yet – let him dangle – but do thank him for his changed vote this time.
I want to point out that his vote does NOT represent a change of heart. He only voted against this resolution after it was clear that it had enough votes to pass.
Make your next email to him a little kiss and a lot of fang.
In the meantime, if you are in the districts affected by the special election for the House of Representatives, bust your butts to move a good candidate through the primary and double up your efforts in the general election. There will be a LOT of out of state support ($$$ + media) for the Dem candidate. You can defeat it by getting your asses on street corners with signs. Really … a yard sign is "okay," but a sign with a real human being – a neighbor – holding it has a LOT more impact.
