Piece Found At Ethiopian Airlines Crash Site Shows Jet Was Set To Dive

A screw-like device found in the wreckage of the Boeing 737 Max that crashed last Sunday in Ethiopia indicates the plane was configured to dive

A screw-like device found in the wreckage of the Boeing 737 Max that crashed last Sunday in Ethiopia indicates the plane was configured to dive, a piece of evidence that helped convince U.S. regulators to ground the model, a person familiar with the investigation said late Thursday night.

Federal Aviation Administration chief Daniel Elwell on Wednesday cited unspecified evidence found at the crash scene as part of the justification for the agency to reverse course and temporarily halt flights of Boeing's largest selling aircraft. Up until then, American regulators had held off as nation after nation had grounded the plane, Boeing's best-selling jet model.

The piece of evidence was a so-called jackscrew, used to set the trim that raises and lowers the plane's nose, according to the person, who requested anonymity to discuss the inquiry.

Pompeo announces visa restrictions over international investigation into U.S. military

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Friday the U.S. will restrict visas for International Criminal Court (ICC) personnel probing U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan. The U.S. has refused to cooperate with international investigators, claiming they violate U.S. sovereignty.

Pompeo, making the announcement at a State Department briefing Friday morning, added the U.S. is ready to take additional steps, including sanctions, if necessary. It's unclear how many are affected by the decision.

The Trump administration has strongly criticized and questioned the International Criminal Court. One of national security adviser John Bolton's first speeches was about the ICC, condemning its investigation into U.S. personnel.

It begins: Connecticut Supreme Court rules gunmaker Remington can be sued over Newtown shooting

One legal strategy the #neverguns Left has been pursuing in recent years in their attempt to neuter the Second Amendment and chill gun rights is to sue weapons makers in an attempt to hold them responsible for mass shootings.

Thanks to a decision Thursday by the Connecticut Supreme Court, Leftist anti-gunners are now one step closer to their objective.

As The Associated Press reported, a divided court ruled that a lawsuit against gunmaker Remington can proceed over the way the company marketed the rifle that was used to kill 20 children and six school officials at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
