Importance of Type O

Different ethnic and racial groups also have different frequency of the main blood types in their populations. For example, approximately 45 percent of Caucasians are type O, but 51 percent of African-Americans and 57 percent of Hispanics are type O. Type O is routinely in short supply and in high demand by hospitals – both because it is the most common blood type and because type O negative blood, in particular, is the universal type needed for emergency transfusions. ((Minority and diverse populations, therefore, play a critical role in meeting the constant need for blood.))

Study may explain why people with type O blood more likely to die of cholera

The main risk factors are people whose stomachs, for whatever reason, are not making the normal amounts of gastric acid—if someone has recently had stomach surgery or is taking drugs that inhibit the production of gastric acid. The other risk factors are genetic, which unfortunately there isn't much you can do about. If your blood type is O, you're at higher risk. When cholera struck Peru, the (((indigenous people there virtually all have blood type O))), and they were at higher risk.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT YOUNG BLOOD?

Various studies have shown the benefits of receiving transfusions of young blood.

University of California at Berkeley scientists in November found 'vampire therapy' can repair muscle tissue.

They also showed it had benefits for both the liver and brain after only 24 hours.

In the same month, Alkahest, a company based in, reported similar findings during trials of young human blood on older mice.

They found it improved the rodents' cognition, allowing them to frolic about like their younger counterparts.

Stanford University experts had already shown the same findings in identical studies three years earlier, but using younger mice blood instead
