LMRP
Lower Marine Riser Package
Subsea element above Blowout Preventer
Built in S. Korea and Italy 2000
Substandard steel cracks like a dry leaf under 2100psi (pressure at 5000ft). This drilling unit was 8000ft down and 20000 ft into the hole (sub-seabed)
Pipe rattle, as communicated by the Administration and media, was wrong. The pipe split inside the LMRP, therefore the blowout preventer could not close properly.
