Jimi Heselden

James William "Jimi" Heselden OBE was a British entrepreneur. A former coal miner, Heselden made his fortune manufacturing the Hesco bastion barrier system. In 2010, he bought Segway Inc., maker of the Segway personal transport system. Heselden died in 2010 from injuries apparently sustained falling from a cliff while riding his own product. They had their chance but canceled Global Combat Suppot System, GCSS-AF, 10 years ago. Based on SAP R3 ERP, it would have given them total asset visibility.

 

But the cost to roll out GCSS-A to USAF units worldwide was estimated at about 1 billion. Cheap bargain compared to this rounding error in just one program. How much unaccounted for accross all programs?
