Drag Queen Storytime Reader Previously Charged with Sexual Assault of a Child Under the Age of 14
A Houston public library issued an apology after it was discovered one of their drag queen storytime readers was previously charged with child sexual assault.
Albert Alfonso Garza, 32, was last seen dressed in drag reading to young children at the Montrose Library in September of last year, ABC reported.
The library said that a background check of Mr. Garza was never conducted before he was allowed to participate in the sick and twisted ‘drag story time’ program.

ABC13 Eyewitness News has learned Garza was charged with child sex assault in 2008. According to records, his victim was a child under the age of 14 years old.
The library said appropriate action is being taken to ensure every participant in every program is verified to ensure similar incidents cannot happen in the future.
Each program is supervised by staff, and all children are accompanied by a parent or guardian, the library said.
The Houston public library released a statement — notice they do not admit Mr. Garza was charged with child sex assault in their statement, they only admit he has a “criminal background.”
We were made aware today that one participant for Drag Queen storytime who read at the September 29, 2018, Drag Queen Storytime has a criminal background that should have prevented him from participating in the program.
We assure you that this participant will not be involved in any future HPL programs.
In our review of our process and of this participant, we discovered that we failed to complete a background check as required by our own guidelines. We deeply regret this oversight and the concern this may cause our customers. We realize this is a serious matter.
Every program sponsored by HPL is supervised by HPL staff, and all children are accompanied by a parent and/or guardian. No participant is ever alone with children, and we have not received any complaints about any inappropriate behavior by participants at storytimes.
We are taking the appropriate action to ensure that the status of every participant in every program throughout our system is verified. We will continue to review our process to ensure that this cannot happen again.
Once again, we apologize for our failure to adhere to our own process in this matter and to the hundreds of parents and caregivers who have enjoyed this program with their children.

Dissident group unrelated to CIA: WaPo pitches new version of N.Korea embassy break-in
The Washington Post has reported, citing anonymous sources, that an obscure dissident group was behind a violent break-in into the North Korean embassy in Spain, defying reports in local media that the CIA was involved.
A group of ten unidentified men stormed into the North Korean embassy in Madrid on February 22, several days before the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Vietnam. According to reports in Spanish media, the attackers tied up and gagged the staff, placing hoods over their heads. They then seized documents, computers and other electronic devices before dashing away in two diplomatic vehicles they soon abandoned.
While the investigation into the bizarre, brazen, action movie-style attack has been shrouded in secrecy, some shreds of information have been leaked to the Spanish media, with Spanish outlets El Pais and El Confidencial reporting that police now believe that at least two of the attackers were connected to the CIA.
The reports were received with a grain of salt by the mainstream media, reported cautiously by most and outright rejected by some. Yahoo called the allegations "unlikely" while citing former CIA officials. Senior editor at The Diplomat, Akit Panda, came out in CIA's defense on Twitter.

Colonizing the Amazon: Brazil to Open Indigenous Reserves to Mining Without Indigenous Consent
New Minister of Mines and Energy Admiral Bento Albuquerque announced on 4 March that he plans to permit mining on indigenous lands in Brazil, including within the Amazon. He also said that he intends to allow mining right up to Brazil’s borders, abolishing the current ban along a 150-kilometer (93-mile)-wide swath at the frontier.
The Bolsonaro administration’s indigenous mining plan is in direct opposition to indigenous land rights as guaranteed under Brazil’s 1988 Constitution. The indigenous mining initiative will likely be implemented via a presidential decree, which will almost surely be reviewed, and possibly be rejected, by Brazil’s Supreme Court.
Mining companies stand ready to move into indigenous reserves, if the measure goes forward. Brazil’s mining ministry has received 4,073 requests from mining companies and individuals for mining-related activities on indigenous land. Indigenous groups are outraged and they plan to resist in the courts and by whatever means possible.
Brazil’s mining industry has a very poor safety and environmental record. As recently as January, Brazil mega-mining company Vale saw a tailings dam collapse at Brumadinho which killed 193 and left another 115 missing. Public outcry is strong against the industry currently, but how the public will respond to the indigenous mining plan isn’t yet known.

The driver witnessed the arrest of a suspect in an attack on a mosque in New Zealand Christchurch . The authorities have already called the incident a terrorist attack, the victims of which were, according to the latest data, 40 people, reports New Zeland Herald .
The targets of the four intruders were mosques in Lynwood (a suburb of Christchurch) and on Deans Avenue. In the first, 10 parishioners became victims of armed terrorists, 30 in the second, and more than 40 people were injured.

Yulia Timoshenko, leader of the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party and a Ukrainian presidential contender, informed EU ambassador to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli about an extensive scheme by incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko’s team to rig the upcoming presidential vote.
"Today, I met with the head of the EU delegation to Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli. I informed the ambassador about the way the election campaign is unfolding and, primarily, about the large-scale fraud that incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko’s team is organizing and carrying out," presidential candidate Timoshenko wrote on her Facebook page. She emphasized that what is happening now with the elections is "incompatible with democracy".
Ambassador Mingarelli emphasized that the Ukrainian elections must be "fair, free and conducted in accordance with global democratic standards".
The upcoming Ukrainian presidential election is scheduled for March 31. According to the latest polls, comic Vladimir Zelensky is in the lead, while the second and third places are occupied by incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko and Batkivshchina Party leader Yulia Timoshenko, respectively. Opposition Platform - For Life party candidate Yuri Boiko is trailing them all in fourth place. A number of politicians and Ukrainian experts have already criticized this election campaign as the dirtiest one since Ukraine gained independence.
