I wonder if some civilian planewatchers are actually clowns doing open source surveillance in plane/plain sight. Eric Prince's cropduster CAS was "busted" by "civilian planespotters" in MALTA. The clown planewatchers also do damage control when something suspicious in the sky gets found.
