Why would this process need to happen slowly?

Because there has been such extensive mind control that there is a significant percentage of the population who identify with, love and trust those who have betrayed them.
If those traitors are arrested BEFORE the wider public learns the truth, that segment of the population will experience those arrests as an attack on themselves, because they identify with and support those politicians/other public figures. They will take it as evidence that POTUS is a tyrannical despot, as the MSM has been conditioning them to believe for years. That would make it significantly more difficult to bring us all back together as patriots united, not divided. Which is the purpose of this mission.
That's why this plan has been orchestrated the way it has. That's why Q frequently refers to it as a "show" and a "movie". Because the revealing of the extent of the corruption must be happen gradually, as a story that people can understand, rather than as an extreme and traumatic event.
That's why Q drops "crumbs": because the whole truth at once would be too much to digest.
And, most importantly, because those behind this plan really do want the power to be returned to the people. The more of us who are aware of this before it officially "breaks", the more of us are empowered to feel like WE are taking our country back. Sheep no more. Victims no more. Good, strong, loving patriots who care about their country and the whole world.
That's the experience Q is offering us.
