NZ Threatens 10 Years In Prison For 'Possessing' Mosque Shooting Video; Web Hosts Warned, 'Dissenter' Banned

New Zealand authorities have reminded citizens that they face up to 10 years in prison for "knowingly" possessing a copy of the New Zealand mosque shooting video - and up to 14 years in prison for sharing it. Corporations (such as web hosts) face an additional $200,000 ($137,000 US) fine under the same law.

Terrorist Brenton Tarrant used Facebook Live to broadcast the first 17 minutes of his attack on the Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Friday - the first of two mosque attacks which left 50 dead and 50 injured.

Copies of Tarrant's livestream, along with his lengthy manifesto, began to rapidly circulate on various file hosting sites following the attack, which as we noted Friday - were quickly scrubbed from mainstream platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Scribd. YouTube has gone so far as to intentionally disable search filters so that people cannot find Christchurch shooting materials - including footage of suspected multiple shooters as well as the arrest of Tarrant and other suspects.

On Saturday, journalist Nick Monroe reported that New Zealand police have warned citizens that they face imprisonment for distributing the video, while popular New Zealand Facebook group Wellington Live notes that "NZ police would like to remind the public that it is an offence to share an objectional publication which includes the horrific video from yesterday's attack. If you see this video, report it immediately. Do not download it. Do not share it. If you are found to have a copy of the video or to have shared it, you face fines & potential imprisonment."

Houthis Threaten To Target Riyadh, Abu Dhabi & Share Surveillance Video Of Key Saudi Facility

The Houthis warned on March 16 that they could launch attacks on the capitals of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emiratis with advanced ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

“We have aerial photographs and coordinates of dozens of headquarters, facilities and military bases of the enemy … The legitimate targets of our forces extend to the capital of Saudi Arabia [Riyadh] and to the emirate of Abu Dhabi [the capital of the UAE],” Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman of the pro-Houthis wing of the Yemeni Armed Forces, said at a press briefing.

The Houthis’ spokesman went on to show a reconnaissance video of a strategic water desalination facility in the southern Saudi province of Jizan. The video appears to be taken by a UAV.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari claimed that the Houthis are locally developing and manufacturing advanced missiles and UAVs. The spokesman said that these capabilities are aimed at deterring the Saudi-led coalition, who has been bombing Houthis-held areas for more than three years now.

“The missiles force achieved major success leading to the production of ballistic missiles 100% locally … New generations of attack UAVs were produced and manufactured,” Sari said.

The Houthis’ threat comes amid intense attacks by the Saudi-led coalition in northwestern and central Yemen. These attacks will likely lead to a new round of escalation in the war-torn country.

Eight Years Ago: The US-NATO-Israel Sponsored Al Qaeda Insurgency in Syria. Who Was Behind the 2011 “Protest Movement”?

The war on Syria started eight years ago in Daraa on the 17th of March 2011.

The following article first published in May 2011 examines the inception of the jihadist terrorist insurgency.

It recounts the events of March 17-18, 2011 in Daraa, a small border town with Jordan.

Media reports have finally acknowledged that the so-called “protest movement” in Syria was instigated by Washington. This was known and documented from the very inception of the Syrian crisis in March 2011.

It was not a protest movement, it was an armed insurgency integrated by US-Israeli and allied supported “jihadist” death squads?

From Day One, the Islamist “freedom fighters” were supported, trained and equipped by NATO and Turkey’s High Command. According to Israeli intelligence sources (Debka, August14, 2011):

These mercenaries were subsequently integrated into US and allied sponsored terrorist organizations including Al Nusrah and ISIS.

The Daraa “protest movement” on March 17-18 had all the appearances of a staged event involving covert support to Islamic terrorists by Mossad and/or Western intelligence.

Government sources pointed to the role of radical Salafist groups (supported by Israel).

In chorus, the Western media described the events in Daraa as a protest movement against Bashar Al Assad.

In a bitter irony, the deaths of policemen were higher than those of “demonstrators”.

In Daraa, roof top snipers were targeting both police and demonstrators.

Reading between the lines of Israeli and Lebanese news reports (which acknowledge the police deaths) a clearer picture of what happened in Daraa on March 17-18 had emerged. The Israel National News Report (which can not be accused of being biased in favor of Bashar al Assad) confirmed that:

“Seven police officers and at least four demonstrators in Syria have been killed in continuing violent clashes that erupted in the southern town of Daraa last Thursday. … and the Baath Party Headquarters and courthouse were torched, in renewed violence on Sunday. The Lebanese news report also acknowledged the killings of seven policemen in Daraa.

Israel warns will use ‘uncompromising force’ against Gaza

Israel yesterday warned it would use “uncompromising force” against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip should the UN Security Council not condemn the alleged launching of two rockets towards Tel Aviv.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, sent a letter to the UN Security Council in which he called on its members to meet and condemn the two homemade rockets allegedly launched from the besieged Gaza Strip towards Tel Aviv.

In the letter, Danon wrote: “The terrorists that fired these rockets into Israel’s most populated civilian area did so while hiding behind Palestinian civilians in Gaza and exploiting them as human shields.” He added: “A terrorist organisation that tries to harm Israel will encounter relentless and uncompromising force.”

Israel on Thursday night struck civilian facilities including schools, hospitals and mosques, claiming to have hit over 100 targets. These airstrikes were reminiscent of Israel’s 2014 assault on Gaza, in which more than 2,000 Palestinians, including more than 500 women and children, were killed.

Hamas: Israel causing new crises in Gaza

Hamas said yesterday that Israel is causing new crises in the Gaza Strip through its military escalation and targeting of Palestinian resistance sites and civilian facilities.

In a press release – a copy of which sent to MEMO – Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said “the latest Israeli escalation in Gaza is a new crime added to the criminal record of the Israeli occupation”.

Barhoum blamed Israel for the potential repercussions of this escalation, stressing that Hamas “knows very well how to deal with this criminal occupation, as well as how to prevent Israel from using Palestinian blood to fuel electoral campaigns.” Barhoum was likely referring to accusations that Israeli establishment figures are using the escalation in the besieged Gaza Strip to further their electoral prospects ahead of the upcoming general election on 9 April.

Barhoum’s statement came in the wake of a wave of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, after Israel claimed two rockets from the besieged enclave were launched towards Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Israeli army announced that 100 strikes had been carried out across Gaza. Palestinian sources reported that several farms and open areas were targeted in addition to the resistance sites, causing horror among women and children and leaving a husband and wife wounded.

Israel blamed Hamas for firing the rockets, but Hamas and the Palestinian factions denied responsibility. The Egyptian intelligence delegation which was in Gaza at the time passed a message from Hamas that the two rockets were launched by mistake during maintenance works.

Judge Halts Kentucky Fetal Heartbeat Abortion Ban

A federal judge temporarily blocked Kentucky’s new law banning abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected – usually six or seven weeks into a pregnancy.

Hours after Gov. Matt Bevin, a Republican, signed the bill into law Friday, the ACLU filed a legal challenge and Judge David J. Hale of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky issued a temporary restraining order to block enforcement of the law.

“This onslaught of bans on abortion that fly in the face of Roe v. Wade are designed specifically for the purposes of trying to get the Supreme Court to reconsider Roe,” said ACLU attorney Brigitte Amiri, according to the Associated Press (AP).

Bevin has signed into law a series of bills aimed at restricting abortion in his state. The ACLU has filed four lawsuits against pro-life legislation passed in the Bluegrass State – the most against any state with regard to abortion.

The Kentucky law would prohibit most abortions once the fetal heartbeat can be detected, except in a case in which the mother’s life is in danger.

According to the AP report, ACLU attorneys said the Kentucky heartbeat abortion law would block 90 percent of abortions in the state.

“If the six-week ban takes effect, the consequences will be devastating,” Amiri said.
