When a Muslim called 911 to publicly pledge allegiance to ISIS moments before slaughtering 49 gay people in the Pulse Nightclub massacre, the media reaction was one of caution. We mustn’t jump to any conclusions about the motives. We mustn’t blame a whole community for the actions of an individual. We mustn’t draw any conclusions about the object of the shooters religious obsessions.

In the case of Omar Mateen, his motive wasn’t radical Islam even though he pledged allegiance to ISIS. No, his motive was big bad evil America killing too many civilians. Just ask Huffington Post:

4 killed in train blast in Pakistan's Baluchistan province - police

Four people were killed and 10 others injured when a bomb went off on a train track in the province of Baluchistan, Pakistan. Separatist rebels are believed to be behind the attack, although no one has yet claimed responsibility.

The blast derailed six train cars, which were traveling from the northwestern city of Peshawar to the Baluchistan provincial capital, Quetta.

A local police chief told Reuters that a teenage girl, her mother, and two others were killed in the attack. Similar attacks have been carried out by ethnic Baluch rebels in the past, although the insurgents have not yet claimed responsibility for the deadly blast

New Zealand's Dunedin airport closed over 'suspicious package' - police

The airport in Dunedin, New Zealand has been closed following a report of a suspicious package on the airfield, law enforcement officials said.

Police are currently at the scene and specialists are trying to determine the contents of the parcel.

An Air New Zealand staff member working at the air hub told AFP the terminal building had not been evacuated.

Damascus, SANA_ Syria has confirmed that the statement issued by the United States, France and Britain on Syria is a historical document of lie, hypocrisy, deception and falsification.

That came in a statement of an official source at Foreign and Expatriates Minister to SANA on Sunday.

Shamrock began as a military intelligence program during World War II, but continued until the 1970s. The operation sparked controversy when details of Shamrock were leaked to the public after a government investigation in 1975. The most heartbreaking part of this NBC segment may be at the end of the video when Savannah Sellers references a comment made by a 14 year old who wishes her parents would have taken her phone away when she was 11. Then again – some of the adult broadcasters admitted they also had some of the same issues with social media as the teens.

Philippines Withdraws From International Criminal Court

In 2018, Philippines authorities stressed that the country would leave the International Criminal Court; however, the withdrawal process takes at least 12 months, according to the official body's regulation.

Starting this Sunday, the Philippines will no longer acknowledge the Rome Statute — the deal that established the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The state's move follows President Rodrigo Duterte's complaints with regard to the United Nations' work; according to Duterte, the UN authorities attempted to represent Duterte as "a ruthless and heartless violator of human rights" amid his campaign against drug dealers.

Petition Asks Trump to Help Poland Extract WWII Reparations From Russia, Germany

Previous efforts by the Polish government to demand war reparations from Moscow for World War II damages have been balked at by officials in Moscow.

A self-described pro-US, pro-Israeli, 'anti-globalist biblical party' from Poland calling itself the 'November 11 Movement' has created a petition on the White House's We the People website asking US President Donald Trump for assistance in obtaining "adequate compensation" from Russia and Germany for damages caused in World War II.

"Free Poles are appealing to the USA, the victor in World War II and the guarantor of the post-war agreements, for assistance in regaining war reparations from Germany and Russia," the petition reads.

In addition to achieving "historical justice," a successful reparations campaign would play "a key role in Poland becoming a strong ally of the United States in the face of the threat that arises in Europe and Asia – a new Empire of Evil," the petition adds, in reference to Ronald Reagan's Cold War-era description of the Soviet Union as an 'Evil Empire'.

US Navy veteran sentenced by Iran to 10 years in prison, lawyer says

The lawyer of a U.S. Navy veteran detained in Iran says his client has been given a 10-year prison sentence.

Washington-based lawyer Mark Zaid told AP that Michael White was convicted of insulting Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and posting private information online.

Senate lawmakers hammer Pentagon officials on massive military budget

Democratic lawmakers hammered top military officials during a congressional hearing on Thursday, highlighting the uphill battle ahead for the Pentagon to push through its $718.3 billion budget for fiscal year 2020.

The lawmakers on the Senate Armed Services Committee grilled acting Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan and other Pentagon officials for “overloading” a war fund request, ongoing efforts to move defense money to construction of a U.S.-Mexico border wall, and sexual assaults in the military.

Overall, President Donald Trump’s administration is requesting $750 billion for national security, which includes funding for the Pentagon and other agencies such as the Department of Energy. Of that, $174 billion is requested for a war fund also known as Overseas Contingency Operations, or OCO.

“We have been presented with a particularly egregious misuse of the OCO account,” Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed, the ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee, said during Thursday’s hearing. “Overloading the OCO request… far exceeds any precedent and cannot be justified… and undercuts the integrity of the entire request.”

Thursday’s hearing, which included Shanahan, Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Deputy Defense Secretary David Norquist, comes on the heels of the Pentagon’s release Monday of its service budget proposals.

Professor of Law at the University of Malta Kevin Aquilina said the selection of judges and magistrates was rarely if ever meritocratic over the years

Law Professor Kevin Aquilina said that the manner in which the judiciary has been appointed over the years has given rise to the friends-of-friends selection criterion, rather than one based on meritocracy.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Malta was speaking to The Malta Independent.

"We see advocates being appointed judges and magistrates hailing from the political arena without any reasonable cooling-off period having elapsed since they last participated in politics," he said.,
