Multiple meanings…5:5 D5…..something to ponder
We are told that words..phrases etc have more than one meaning…there are no coincidences..right. I am certainly not a biblefag…but have been pondering this for a couple of days..so i thought id share it. We know that 5:5 means loud and clear…we also know that Q tells us to “read the bible” and “God Wins” (drop 1602) Additionally, there are numerous drops that refer specifically to bible verses (2744 for ex)…So for your consideration…5:5 could also refer to Deuteronomy (5th book of bible) Ch. 5 …which can also be known as D5. Deuteronomy addresses the historical distance between the past and present…between tradition and contemporary society. In terms of narrative, it is positioned just as the Israelites are camped on the plains of Moab just before entering the promised land (NSRV introduction). It certainly can be seen a renewal of God’s covenant with man. The covenant delivered to Moses on Mt. Sinai had been broken so it was necessary to renew God’s covenant with this new generation. To me, it just feels (yea i know) that there is much significance here….and certainly much to unpack as there are many parallels. Historically, it was written at a time of extreme turbulence…finding the Israelites desperate to preserve cultural and religious integrity. Of course, this can be seen throughout the OT within many biblical stories…those good in a nation trying to preserve its integrity in the face of evil…. Furthermore, this conflict of man’s inability to remain faithful while God remains steadfast is a recurring theme in biblical narrative. Q often tells us that this is truly a battle of Good v Evil—that many around us worship Satan…make sacrifices to Ba’al. Bible stories tell us about God, man and the “perilously momentous realm of history”. We are living in one of the greatest moments of history. Q points us in various directions allowing us to find truth…and some of those directions are in the Bible. It should be noted that Deuteronomy 5 also contains the Ten Commandments…which prescribe what is expected of humanity in order to inherit the kingdom of God. Therefore, 5:5 and D5 could also be a notice to revisit and renew again God’s covenant with man…accept the grace that is offered and live by those commandments contained therein. So just throwing this out there for consideration….God bless (and that just feels odd to type b/c I truly am not a biblefag—-but am keeping an open mind)!
Happy St. Patrick's Day
