STATEMENT FROM UAW VICE PRESIDENT TERRY DITTES ON THE FINAL CRUZE BUILT IN LORDSTOWN

March 6, 2019

โ€œWe in the UAW have taken issue with the decision of the General Motors Company to stop building the top quality and award winning Chevrolet Cruze, built by one of the greatest workforces in the country at UAW Local 1112! As our recently filed lawsuit against GM makes clear, the UAW will leave no stone unturned in keeping the Lordstown plant open.โ€

@realDonaldTrump

Democrat UAW Local 1112 President David Green ought to get his act together and produce. G.M. let our Country down, but other much better car companies are coming into the U.S. in droves. I want action on Lordstown fast. Stop complaining and get the job done! 3.8% Unemployment!

UAW president vows to take on Detroit carmakers

DETROIT โ€” UAW President Gary Jones promised to put the Detroit 3 auto companies โ€œon the defensiveโ€ and โ€œtake this fight to them,โ€ as his team began private meetings to shape priorities to be presented during contract talks this year.

Striking is a real possibility for the union, which represents about 156,000 workers employed by General Motors, Ford Motor Co., and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, he emphasized. Nearly 4,000 work for GM in Spring Hill.

โ€œWeโ€™re going into the bargaining session using every tool to protect the rights and wages of our members,โ€ Jones said. โ€œWe will do what we need to do. We will use every ounce of our leverage, every last ounce.โ€
