No, the Baptist Church is full of errors. They have plenty of good in the Baptist church, but a consistent follower of their doctrine will never arrive at assurance of salvation.

Martial law for California! They should pay reparations to the rest of the country. No offense califags
yeah, but q's wrong about that
I mean, he's right that there are church people like Silsby involved in trafficking. But not right that people really trust the clergy.
Welcome, Black Twitter, to a board that doesn't want to infantilize you.
See above. Q is mistaken if he thinks Americans are taught to trust the clergy, generally speaking
muh bi-bo
me n my bi-bo. gon do research n figger out God all by mysef
Who's taught to trust the clergy? Everybody I talk to is highly skeptical of clergy and churches and is just gonna read their bi-bo or meditate at home.
Yes, and most of them pick and choose what parts of church teaching they agree with, even though this is by definition a repudiation of Catholicism. American Catholics are very good Americans and not very good Catholics. viz. Pelosi, Biden, etc. who are pro-choice and pro gay marriage.
Better
Whatever. I don't want to be the guy saying Q is wrong. My point is that trust in the clergy/organized religion is certainly not pushed in our society. You can see it all over this board. And the me and my bible guys who are among the people doing it don't realize what side they are on.
>brain dead leftist who thinks he's a patriot
Excellent point, anon
Here's your red sash, citizen!
Clinton is a United Methodist. It'd be interesting to find out what Baptist denomination Silsby was with. Whenever people hear "Baptist" they always think Southern or Independent, but I'd suspect she was with the American Baptist Convention, or is running a parachurch ministry with no direct denominational affiliation.
Basically, if you don't use the Greek New Testament, you're probably a heretic
The parts of the world that don't think they've evolved past religion are also the parts that don't teach kids to change their sex when they haven't reached puberty yet
You're right. Anticlericalism has a long history in America. Thanks, Anabaptists!
Yep, doctors and scientists are unquestionable. "The science is certain." Isn't that what we heard about climate change? End of argument. Climate change was the rare example of people not immediately bowing the knee when "the science was certain".
It's going to be harder to upset protestants. We don't have the idea that our denomination is "the true church" to anything like the degree that Catholics do. I agree with you. That was the sense I got from Q's post too. HE wasn't revelling in the idea that people like Silsby were abusing the people who give money to missionaries in good faith, but rather sad at the betrayal. And if the examples are like Silsby, what we can expect is people associated with clowns and other three letter agencies who have essentially infiltrated churches. Whereas the clergy abuse scandal with Rome is something different.
I thought it was all "natural philosophy" originally.
Once again, thanks, German universities.
Agree anon. This whole, "I'm a Christian, that's why I avoid the Church" is a head-scratcher
what?
The church was invented by Jesus. Intro to New Testament.
"Whoever receives you receives Me, whoever rejects you rejects Me, and whoever rejects Me rejects the one who sent Me."
"On this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."
"The church of the living God, which is a pillar and foundation of the truth."
"To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, so that through the Church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lordโฆ"
"Pay careful attention to yourselves and all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you bishops, to care for the church of God, which He obtained with His own blood."
"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Wordโฆ"
"The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a communion in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a communion in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread."
"This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God."
โฆ"not shifting fromt he hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the Church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word o fGod fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations, but now revealed to his saints."
"Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus."
"For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. Purge the evil person from among you. When one of you havs a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the Church?"
And on and on and on. This is why you need to go to church and be taught by a pastor. If you don't know enough not to walk into this, you're in no position to be shepherding yourself.
Peter learned from Jesus here, and yet he still got called Satan in Jesus' next breath. The point of those verses is that the Church is Jesus' creation, along with the ministry of the Gospel. Anyone who despises the visible congregation of Christians or the ministry is despising Jesus and is either ignorant and acting and speaking in a very dangerous weakness to their own souls, or is simply not a Christian, because he is despising the words of Christ.
There are doctrinal requirements to churches that belong to the SBC, right?
Apparently no one told him that that is the translation approved directly by God.
