The autumn equinox, one of the two points of the year at which the lengths of day and night are 'roughly equal', is almost upon us, heralding the slippery slope towards increasingly long, dark evenings and chillier temperatures. But if this conventional dividing point between summer and autumn leaves you feeling a little downcast, then you might be pleased to know that, astronomically speaking, we can hang onto those lazy, hazy days for a little while longer. The summer of 2017 doesnโ€™t quite end on the 22nd September, but in fact a few days later, on what is more precisely described as the equilux.
