I find this a little strange.

One of the 50 victims is Atta Elayyan, a soccer player, so the media tells us.

However, he appears to be more than that?

If you go to his wiki page, you find in lnks at bottom that Atta was more than a soccer player.

He ia a Palestani who grew up in Oregon, is a software developer has traveled, and started a mosque in Christchurch.

Sound familiar?

Atta has been to SEATLE for Microsoft.

"I spoke to a number of developers at Build and the common theme was excitement and potential around where Microsoft is heading. Discussing the YouTube experience on Windows Phone, UX designer Atta Elayyan saw a "massive opportunity" with Windows Phone after noticing the lack of a good YouTube app. "It was actually one of the first things I noticed when I picked up the very first Windows Phone," he says. Elayyan and his colleague Michael Choeung, both from New Zealand, founded Lazyworm Apps in late 2010 to focus on Windows Phone apps. MetroTube launched first, a highly rated YouTube app for Windows Phone that made it into the top 10 paid apps list at one point. Lazyworm Apps were forced to remove the app temporarily as they werenโ€™t using Googleโ€™s APIs correctly, but recently re-launched it for free alongside Tweetro, a new Windows 8 Twitter app."

The world is full of tragedy lately, and this time it hit home a little directly. Lazyworm Apps CEO Atta Elayyan โ€“ best known for his work on MetroTube for Windows Phone years ago โ€“ was one of the 50 people murdered in the Christchurch, NZ terrorist attack.

Elayyan was just 33 years old, married, and recently became a father.

MetroTube used to go under the name LazyTube, which started around seven years ago and quickly became one of the banner apps for the growing Windows Phone ecosystem. It was an app that galvanized Windows Phone users at a time where Google was snubbing the platform.

Elayyan was one of the most enthusiastic MVP developers on Windows Phone and for Microsoft โ€“ he always interacted with the Windows Central community with passion and idealism.

Back in 2012, Elayyan was thrilled to give us a sneak peek of his team's work on MetroTube, and I remember having lunch with him multiple times to talk Windows Phone, Microsoft, and the app developer's life. He was smart, kind, and had his whole life ahead of him. Almost everyone knew him in the Windows Phone developer community.
